Your new company
Our client is a leading utilities organisation who are seeking a seasoned Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead its cyber security strategy and uplift initiatives. This organisation plays a critical role in delivering essential services across the Northern Territory and is undergoing significant transformation in its digital and operational technology environments. This is a contract role (6 months + 6 months) with remote flexibility, requiring one week per month onsite in Darwin—all travel and accommodation costs are covered.
Your new role
As the CISO, you will be responsible for designing, leading, and delivering the organisation’s cyber security strategy across both IT and OT environments. Reporting to the General Manager of Technology & Systems, you’ll assess current posture, develop a strategic roadmap, and guide the organisation through regulatory compliance, including SOCI SP-2 obligations. You’ll also mentor cyber teams, review service provider capabilities, and deliver executive-level briefings and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cyber strategy development and implementation across IT/OT
- Assess risk and threat landscape across critical infrastructure
- Align cyber initiatives with business resilience and transformation programs
- Evaluate team structure and service provider performance
- Deliver strategic reporting and uplift recommendations
- Provide mentoring and development plans for cyber teams
- Present briefings to senior leadership and stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven leadership in cyber security, ideally as a CISO in utilities or critical infrastructure
- Deep understanding of OT environments and IT/OT convergence challenges
- Experience with SOCI Act compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Strong stakeholder engagement and executive influencing skills
- CISSP or equivalent certification
- Minimum 10 years in cyber security leadership roles
Desirable:
- Experience with SCADA, cloud platforms, and emerging technologies
- Strong program and portfolio management skills
- Defence or government sector experience
