Your new role
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you’ll be part of a dedicated cyber team responsible for monitoring, responding to, and mitigating security threats across complex systems. Reporting to the Cyber Security Manager, you’ll contribute to incident response, vulnerability management, supply chain risk assessments, and cyber education initiatives. You’ll also support the development of cyber policies and provide technical guidance to internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyse security events using SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk)
- Respond to and manage security incidents in a SOC environment
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and manage CVE remediation
- Perform cyber supply chain risk assessments for COTS and OSS products
- Deliver open-source intelligence analysis and reporting
- Provide cyber security advice to product teams on logging and monitoring
- Contribute to the development of cyber security policies and procedures
- Support cyber education and awareness across the organisation
What you'll need to succeed
- SOC Analyst / Cyber Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA CySA+, EC-Council CSA, GIAC GCIH)
- Experience with SIEM platforms, incident response, and open-source intelligence
- Cert IV in Cyber Security, Intelligence Operations, or Risk Management (desirable)
- Threat hunting in Linux environments (desirable)
- Penetration testing or vulnerability assessment experience (desirable)
- Experience with containerised/virtualised environments
- Familiarity with Defence Security Policy Framework and ISM
- Prior experience in Defence or Australian Government environments is highly regarded
