An exciting opportunity has emerged for a seasoned AI Product Owner to lead the development of cutting-edge AI-powered products and services within a public sector environment. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between technical AI teams and diverse business stakeholders, ensuring that AI initiatives deliver meaningful value and align with broader societal goals. This is an initial 12-month contract with the strong possibility of extension.

Your new role

• Define and communicate the vision for AI-driven products and services

• Gather and analyse requirements from a wide range of stakeholders, including government departments, citizens, and policy makers.

• Prioritise features and manage product backlogs for AI initiatives.

• Collaborate with AI/ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and MLOps professionals to translate business needs into technical deliverables.

• Evaluate and integrate vendor solutions to enhance internal capabilities.

• Ensure AI solutions are user-centric, intuitive, and impactful.

• Measure and report on the business value and societal impact of AI products and promote agile methodologies across AI product development cycles.

• Serve as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to foster clear communication and alignment.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience in product management, with a strong track record across the full product lifecycle.
• Solid understanding of AI/ML technologies and their practical applications.
• Strong user focus, with the ability to design intuitive solutions for both citizens and government employees.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to define and measure the impact of AI initiatives in both business and societal contexts.
• Experience working in agile environments and driving iterative development.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex public sector challenges into actionable AI projects.
• Deep commitment to ethical AI development and public service values.
