Your new role
Reporting to senior leadership in environmental science, you will lead and manage a multidisciplinary team focused on building an evidence-based understanding of public health risks related to pollution and waste. You will drive innovative research initiatives, provide expert health risk advice, and lead the development of health impact assessment practices aligned with strategic priorities to prevent harm to communities.
This senior management position is ideal for a highly experienced professional in public health, social/health impact assessment, applied epidemiology, or biostatistics as it relates to environmental challenges. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment that values integrity, leadership, and cross-sector collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of health impact assessments in strategic and regulatory advice.
- Oversee technical capacity building within the Environmental Public Health Branch.
- Conduct and support systematic reviews and translate findings into policy advice.
- Produce high-quality reports and briefs on complex public health risks.
- Lead performance management, team development, and resource planning.
- Build strategic partnerships across government, industry, and community sectors.
What you'll need to succeed
You’re an experienced leader with a proven track record in environmental public health. You bring technical excellence, strategic thinking, and a collaborative approach to managing risks and driving cultural change.
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science/health science/public health/health impact assessment/applied epidemiology or biostatistics related to the health impacts of pollution and waste are preferred.
- Proven experience in integrating health assessments into environmental regulation.
- Strong communicator of complex health risk information to a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership in team management, performance frameworks, and cultural transformation.
- Skilled in human exposure assessment relevant to environmental health investigations.
