Your new role
Develop design documentation such as single line diagrams, logic diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, panel layouts, and termination schedules.
Ensure designs comply with project requirements, relevant standards, and applicable codes.
Support all phases of the project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and commissioning.
Monitor and maintain quality across engineering outputs to ensure high standards.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, providing technical support throughout project delivery.
Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement in secondary systems design and technology adoption.
Support the development and refinement of internal design standards and engineering practices.
Ensure deliverables meet expectations for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Provide technical solutions for substation secondary systems, including protection philosophies, AC/DC system sizing, and CT/VT calculations.
- Perform detailed design of secondary systems, including protection studies, settings, configurations, and integration of automation and telecommunications.
- Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and technical specifications for transmission and distribution projects.
What you'll need to succeed
Holds a degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia.
Extensive experience in substation secondary systems design, ideally within consulting or utility sectors.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and project oversight capabilities.
- Full working rights in Australia
Proven track record delivering projects for utility clients.
Strong expertise in high-voltage protection systems, low-voltage control systems, and integration with primary systems.
Familiar with SCADA systems, substation automation, and digital substation technologies.
Deep understanding of utility engineering standards and compliance requirements.
