HR Officer

3-month temporary contract within a public sector organisation.

Our client is looking for an experienced HR Officer to join their team on a 3-month short-term temporary contract with the possibility of extension.

Your new role

  • Provides timely and accurate advice on HR matters, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and agreements.

  • Review recruitment and classification requests, supporting the development and evaluation of new or revised roles.

  • Manage HR processes and records using systems such as PeopleSoft, ensuring data integrity and administrative excellence.

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of HR policies, procedures, and process improvements through research and data analysis.

  • Support and lead HR projects and initiatives that enhance service delivery and staff experience.

  • Coordinate and facilitate cyclical HR programs including performance reviews, promotions, probation, and onboarding.

Collaborate with internal teams including Payroll and broader P&C to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Possession of a degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of HR practices, employment legislation, and industrial instruments.

  • Experience preparing HR documentation such as employment contracts and supporting the development or review of HR policies and procedures, with a strong attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide high-quality customer service and build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, use initiative, and resolve problems independently or as part of a team.

  • High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (e.g., PeopleSoft), with a willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing systems and processes.
