This prominent authority within the Victorian State Government is seeking a Senior Communications Adviser responsible for leading the delivery of media functions for the authority. This encompasses media relations, media writing, liaison with journalists, maintaining media lists and managing media enquiries. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the position will also lead several campaigns that span both traditional and emerging digital communications channels. You will provide authoritative and strategic advice to senior management on media issues and proactively identify opportunities and mitigate risks and support the delivery of some projects, including events, as required. This role will run for 8-weeks working out of their CBD office 2 days per week and the rest from home.

What you'll need to succeed

• Demonstrated high level experience in managing media functions in a fast paced and diverse professional environment
• Proven background delivering communications services across both traditional and digital channels including social media, and a demonstrated ability to lead delivery of complex, multi-faceted communications campaigns
• expertise, flair and creativity in providing media relations advice, including the ability to proactively identify opportunities and manage risks and expectations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to quickly foster positive and constructive relationships with staff and external stakeholders to influence and optimise outcomes
