This is a temporary contract arrangement for a two-month period with the option to extend for a period of an additional month subject to approval. The successful candidate will be expected to work a 76-hour fortnight, between 6:00am and 4:00pm.

Your new role

  • Oversee and implement long-term asset management plans, capital works programs, and service-level agreements to align with organisational goals and operational needs.

  • Provide technical support and leadership for infrastructure projects, including planning, budgeting, and coordination of self-performing works and external contractors.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure new and existing assets meet operational, maintenance, and safety standards.

  • Maintain and update asset management systems and databases, ensuring integration with GIS and compliance with financial reporting standards.

  • Conduct asset condition assessments, valuations, and forecasting, and report findings to executive management and council for planning and decision-making.

  • Promote a collaborative, high-performing team culture through effective communication, innovation, and service delivery leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including recordkeeping, risk mitigation, and ethical standards.

  • Foster a safe work environment, actively participate in team initiatives, and contribute to a positive and solution-focused workplace culture.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, while supporting team members in meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, written, and report-writing capabilities.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering-related software, with experience using asset management systems such as ROMAN II or similar.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, including construction planning and project delivery.
  • Skilled in preparing project documentation, including specifications, budget estimates, and tender materials.
  • Experience in developing and managing project plans for both internal and external delivery teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar engineering or project-focused role.
  • Tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Additional certifications in business, asset management, or project management are highly regarded.
  • A current National Police Clearance (issued within the last 6 months).
  • A valid, unrestricted WA Driving Licence.
  • Local government experience is highly desirable.
