Your new role
As a Senior Associate / Special Counsel in the Class Actions team, you will:
Lead and manage all phases of group litigation; from pleadings, discovery and expert evidence through to mediation, negotiation and settlement distribution
Champion key case management processes to drive matters through procedural milestones on time and on budget
Draft, review and settle class action pleadings, opt-out notices, position papers, affidavits and other high-stakes documentation
Secure, manage and report on litigation funding arrangements in collaboration with funders and the Practice Leader
Mentor and coach junior lawyers, build team capability and contribute to a high-performance culture
Engage lead applicants, group members, external counsel and experts to maintain strong stakeholder relationships
What you'll need to succeed
Current Australian practising certificate and 5+ (Senior Associate) or 8+ (Special Counsel) years’ post-admission experience in class actions or major commercial litigation
Deep technical expertise in class action procedure, discovery, evidence management and settlement distribution
Proven track record in drafting persuasive legal documents and leading high-value negotiations or mediations
Commercial acumen to control costs, maximise recoverability and oversee case budgets
Strong leadership and people-management skills, with experience coaching, delegating and developing legal teams
Excellent communication skills for client engagement, media/industry events and internal stakeholder influence
