A government organisation in Fremantle are seeking an experienced Coastal Engineer to join the team. This role is being offered on an initial 3-month temporary contract with a view to extend, and will require you to work full-time hours Monday to Friday. You will be paid competitively and in line with your level of experience.
Your new role
As the Coastal Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Providing specialist coastal advice and recommendations to support sustainable coastal management and planning
- Perform coastal engineering calculations and designs, in line with published standards
- Arrange and/or perform field investigations for coastal engineering and management projects
- Liaise with key stakeholders around their input on coastal and maritime projects, acting as a point of contact on behalf of the department
- Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role you will need:
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Coastal Engineering, or a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated employment experience working in a similar role, focused on coastal protection and engineering practices
- Advanced written communication with confidence in conducting research assessments and reporting on findings
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills
- CPEng would be preferred
