A federal Australian government agency responsible for delivering essential services to Australians living with disabilities is undertaking significant digital transformation initiatives. The Technology Services Division is leading the development of innovative, fit-for-purpose ICT solutions to improve service delivery and user experience.
We are seeking a UX/UI Designer to join the Experience Design team. This role is central to enhancing current and future digital products and expanding the team’s influence across the agency. You’ll help deliver meaningful outcomes for users, participants, and service providers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Design wireframes and prototypes
Contribute to the agency’s design system
Facilitate co-design workshops with stakeholders
Conduct usability testing with staff, providers, and participants
Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product and business owners
Engage with business, providers, and participants to co-design project outcomes
Illustrate concepts using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
Collaborate with business analysts to capture and analyse data-related requirements
Secure stakeholder and governance group agreement and sign-off on requirements
Influence project documentation to reflect UI/UX requirements
Assist in the design and implementation of the agency’s design system
Deliver outputs in line with project schedules
Essential Criteria
4–6 years’ experience working as a UX/UI designer
Proven experience in eliciting UI/UX requirements through techniques such as brainstorming, workshops, prototyping, observation, or interviews
Contemporary knowledge of UI/UX methodologies and experience designing to meet WCAG guidelines
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders
Desirable Criteria
Experience designing for Salesforce
Experience working with accessibility requirements
A forward-thinking and enthusiastic approach to accessible design and development
