Your new company
We have the opportunity for two experienced Cyber Security Architects to join a large federal government department on an initial 10-month contract based in Canberra, ACT, with flexible hybrid working arrangements and the potential for a 12-month extension. This department is undertaking a significant cyber security uplift program aimed at enhancing its digital resilience and protecting critical systems. In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, assessment, and implementation of secure ICT solutions across multiple projects, working closely with technical and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with government standards. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
Your new role
As a Cyber Security Architect, you will play a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and compliant solutions across multiple concurrent projects. You’ll be embedded in a high-performing team supporting a major cyber security program, contributing to solution design, risk assessments, and the development of secure ICT architectures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and assessing ICT security solutions for infrastructure, middleware, and business systems
- Developing and maintaining security architecture documentation
- Supporting the development of high-level and detailed security requirements
- Managing stakeholder relationships across business and ICT teams
- Driving innovation and aligning solutions with strategic objectives
- Ensuring compliance with government security standards and frameworks
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years of continuous experience in IT security and consulting
- Demonstrated experience in IT Security Risk Assessments
- Strong technical writing skills, including executive-level documentation
- In-depth knowledge of Australian Government security requirements
- Proven experience with certification practices aligned to government standards
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight timeframes
- A strong understanding of government policies and their practical application (desirable)
