Our client is a well-regarded state government department based in the Sydney CBD.

Your new role

Due to an increase in work load, this department is seeking lawyers who are available to start ASAP to assist on a litigation project.

• Providing clear, concise legal advice and representation to clients.
• Management of litigation matters.
• Analysing and interpreting legislation and evidence to draft documents, including advice, pleadings, submissions and other court documents, briefing notes and correspondence to ensure the provision of efficient and effective legal services for the organisation.
• Researching and drafting advice and undertaking representation, briefing counsel where appropriate to facilitate appropriate outcomes for the organisation.
• Assisting clients and other key stakeholders on various matters and requests for advice to facilitate the exchange of information, completion of tasks and meeting critical deadlines.

What you'll need to succeed

• Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia, with a current practising certificate.

• A minimum of 6 months experience practising as a lawyer

• Experience in the management of litigation matters, including assisting in the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, and briefs

• Experience in drafting correspondence and legal advice

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks

• Excellent communication skills
