We are seeking a highly skilled Networking and Cybersecurity Specialist to manage and secure a government agency’s network infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring reliable connectivity and robust cyber protection across the organization’s systems and data.
Your new role
- Configure, deploy, monitor, and maintain networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls)
- Ensure WAN and Internet connectivity
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to prevent, detect, and respond to threats
- Align security practices with PSPF, ISM, and Essential 8 Maturity Level 2 standards
- Collaborate with Security Operations to optimise SIEM (Microsoft Sentinel)
- Report and assist in security incident investigations
- Provide senior technical support to project teams
- Produce and review technical architecture and design documents
- Maintain SOPs, monitoring tools, and reporting systems
- Mentor team members and support knowledge transfer
- Stay current with industry developments and best practices
- Advise management on ICT strategy and technology decisions
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Hands-on experience with:
- Network equipment configuration and management
- Cybersecurity implementation in complex environments
- Strong knowledge of:
- Fortinet, Zscaler, Microsoft Sentinel
- Microsoft security technologies
- Scripting and automation (BASH, KQL, Python, PowerShell)
- Experience with ServiceNow (minimum 6 months)
- Associate-level Microsoft certification (specify)
- Degree or formal qualification in IT
- Experience with Linux/Windows system administration
- Industry certifications (e.g., ITIL, network vendor)
- ServiceNow configuration and automation experience
- Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold a minimum NV1 security clearance. Candidates without the required clearance will not be considered.
