Your new organisation
A newly created Senior Project Manager role has become available to support the delivery of a significant marine construction project at the Port Melbourne pier. This is a full-time, on-site contract role for an initial 12-month period, with the possibility of extension.
The project is currently in the design phase and will progress through early works, procurement, tender preparation, and construction. The successful candidate will work closely with the incumbent Project Manager, providing mentorship and support while contributing to the overall success and development of the team.
This role is ideal for a civil engineer with extensive experience in construction, whether from a principal or contractor background, who has a strong track record in tender management and construction delivery. Experience in marine infrastructure, particularly involving marine structures and piers, is highly desirable.
Your new role
- Lead and manage all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, estimating, scheduling, cost control, and contract administration.
- Support tender preparation and procurement activities.
- Oversee construction delivery in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.
Skills & Experience- Extensive project management experience across multidisciplinary contracts.
- Marine infrastructure experience, especially with timber structures, is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of project risk assessment and mitigation.
- Knowledge of asset maintenance principles and asset management plans.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder presentations.
- Proficiency in resolving industrial, contractual, and performance-related issues.
What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary qualifications in project management and/or civil/structural engineering, or equivalent experience.
Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
Demonstrated understanding of quality management and OH&S regulations.
