We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Program Officer to join a respected Australian Government agency committed to advancing international research partnerships. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful global initiatives through strategic engagement, program coordination, and policy support.

Your new role
As Senior Program Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Director, Multilateral and Strategic Partnerships, in the effective management of multilateral, regional, and co-investment partnerships. Your work will contribute to the delivery of high-quality research programs and the strengthening of international stakeholder relationships.
  • Provide research assistance, analysis, and strategic advice to support the implementation of program activities and international engagement strategies.
  • Maintain effective and culturally sensitive relationships with partner countries and institutions, offering technical expertise in program management, quality assurance, and policy alignment.
  • Collate and synthesise findings from global research initiatives, scientific literature, and regional consultations to inform decision-making and continuous program improvement.
  • Monitor project deliverables and budgets, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with internal systems and procedures.
  • Prepare complex correspondence, contractual documentation, and tender materials in accordance with Australian Government legislation and agency policies.
  • Support corporate reporting requirements by preparing high-level briefings and contributing to the communication of program impacts.
  • Identify and implement improvements to policies, processes, and data systems, ensuring changes are embedded in ongoing business practices.
  • Assist in the development, monitoring, and reporting of operating budgets for the Impact and Learning team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have prior experience working in the Australian Public Service and be able to demonstrate expertise in the following.
  • Proven experience in international development, research collaboration, or public sector program delivery.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • A collaborative and culturally aware approach to stakeholder engagement.
  • Sound understanding of government procurement, contract management, and reporting processes.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

This position is only open to Australian citizens, and you must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Government Security Clearance (Baseline, NV1 or NV2)
