About the Company
Following a recent merger with a Nickel plant, our client has expanded its operations and inherited several mining plants, with plans to convert one into a gold processing facility. With six operational sites, all equipped with Starlink and running on SD-WAN Fusion Network infrastructure, the company is entering a transformative phase and requires a skilled IT Manager to support and guide its evolving technology landscape.
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on IT Manager to oversee and coordinate IT operations across multiple sites. This role will initially be part-time, with the potential to transition into a full-time position. You will be based in West Perth and occasionally travel to mine sites near Kalgoorlie.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Support Oversight: Manage and coordinate support services provided by the external vendors, ensuring timely resolution of issues and maintaining service quality.
- Infrastructure & Networking: Oversee the company’s SD-WAN Fusion Network, SQL/MS/Virtual server environments, and Starlink-enabled site connectivity.
- System Engineering: Provide technical leadership in maintaining and optimizing systems architecture across all sites.
- Asset Management: Evaluate hardware and software assets, manage procurement and costing, and recommend scalable IT solutions.
- Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with external IT support providers and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Project Support: Assist in IT planning for the conversion of mining plants and other strategic initiatives.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in IT support and issue resolution across diverse environments.
- Experience in a people management position
- Strong background in networking and systems engineering.
- Experience with asset management, including software/hardware evaluation and budgeting.
- Familiarity with SD-WAN, SQL Server, Microsoft environments, and virtualized infrastructure.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across remote sites.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in the mining/resources sector.
- Previous experience working as an IT Manager
- Previous involvement in IT transitions or mergers.
- Willingness to travel to remote sites as needed.
