Our client is a large, forward-thinking organisation committed to uplifting its cybersecurity maturity. This institution is embarking on a strategic Essential 8 and NIST-aligned uplift and is seeking a technically adept Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join on a contract engagement and play a key role in a multi-year transformation. The role is Sydney-based with flexible hybrid arrangements (1–2 days onsite per week) and will involve working with both internal and partner teams to implement critical security controls across a complex IT footprint. Contract until 19 December 2025, with strong potential for extension as part of a multi-year program.

Your new role

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience leading Essential 8 implementations in large, complex organisations
• Deep technical expertise in Windows environments, including Active Directory, IDAM/Entra, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, and application hardening
• Strong familiarity with the ISM and NIST frameworks
• Ability to translate technical concepts into plain language and influence non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on execution capabilities—this role is not advisory, it’s delivery-driven
