This council is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Tree Management Officer to help protect and enhance the urban forest across our Local Government Area. This role is vital in ensuring the retention and protection of both public and private trees, contributing to the environmental, social, and economic wellbeing of our community.
Your new role
Assess tree management applications and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies.
Collaborate with planning and engineering teams to integrate tree protection into development and infrastructure projects.
Provide expert arboricultural advice to support sustainable development.
Engage with the community to promote awareness of urban forestry benefits.
Contribute to the development of strategic plans and policies for long-term urban forest management.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications in Arboriculture, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and planning instruments, including the Vegetation SEPP and Strathfield’s DCP.
Experience in assessing tree-related applications and development proposals.
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, developers, and internal teams.
Problem-solving abilities to balance tree preservation with urban development.
Commitment to sustainability and enhancing urban green spaces.
Team spirit and a proactive approach to service delivery and continuous improvement.
