Your new role

Due to business growth, the Finance team in Townsville is seeking a motivated Graduate Accountant eager to gain hands-on experience in the commercial space. You'll join a collaborative team and contribute to financial operations while receiving on-the-job mentorship. This full-time position offers the chance to develop your skills within a supportive work environment.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you'll be involved in financial and management accounting for multiple entities, including
  • Perform daily transactional accounting tasks.
  • Assist with month-end activities, including ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly management reports.
  • Generate various reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Enhance financial processes and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify improvement opportunities, ensure compliance, and minimize risk.
  • Support the Finance team in achieving its deliverables.
  • Research and interpret accounting policies and regulations as needed.
  • Prepare tax documents for GST and FBT.
  • Participate in various ad hoc projects.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed, you'll need a solid grasp of accounting principles and the ability to contribute effectively to a high-performing finance team. Meeting deadlines, generating reports, analyzing data, and improving processes are key. Strong customer service skills and good interpersonal abilities will help you thrive in a small team.

Education & Experience:
  • Near completion of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Around two years of work experience (desirable).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate/advanced skills in Excel.
