Your new role
As a Lead User Researcher, you’ll play a key role in shaping the direction of digital products by uncovering deep insights into user needs, behaviours, and pain points. In this team, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and developers to plan and conduct research that informs every stage of the product lifecycle—from early discovery through to live service and sustainment.
You’ll be responsible for designing and executing research activities, synthesising findings into actionable insights, and communicating these to stakeholders through engaging presentations, reports, and workshops. You’ll also contribute to the agency’s broader research practice and knowledge base, helping to build a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
A strong foundation in user research, with hands-on experience across a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods.
Proven ability to translate research findings into clear, actionable insights that shape product and service design.
Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams on complex digital projects.
Confidence in presenting research outcomes to a range of audiences, from delivery teams to senior stakeholders.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with designers, developers, product managers and policy teams.
A user-first approach, with a deep understanding of accessibility, inclusivity, and ethical research practices.
Familiarity with the tools and technologies used in modern digital service delivery teams to senior stakeholders.
