Your new role
In this role, you will work directly with beekeepers to deliver training, promote best practices, and support biosecurity efforts aimed at managing the spread of Varroa mite.
In this role, you will work directly with beekeepers to deliver training, promote best practices, and support biosecurity efforts aimed at managing the spread of Varroa mite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engagement and training to commercial and recreational beekeepers on Varroa mite management and best practice guidelines.
- Prepare extension materials and provide timely reports on project milestones.
- Conduct workshops and identify opportunities to enhance industry monitoring and data collection.
- Promote participation in the national COLOSS survey and support its implementation.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement in biosecurity practices.
- Provide accurate advice to beekeepers and promote awareness of General Biosecurity Obligations.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Willingness and ability to travel and work outside standard hours, including weekends.
- Physical capability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, informative materials.
- Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of Integrated Pest Management and bee biosecurity practices.
- Experience in delivering training and engaging with stakeholders in the beekeeping industry.
