Your new company

In your new role, you will be responsible for the inspection of work completed contractors and sub-contractors engaged in operational works

Your new role

  • Daily inspection of work completed by contractors engaged in maintaining and restoring the civil asset work program

  • Assist in interviews for permanent and casual staff and induct new staff

  • Complete customer request investigations, organise completion of works, if required, and upload completion reports

  • Carry out compliance inspections of vehicular crossings, asset restorations and the Works Improvement Program

  • Carry out cost estimates and manage work order processes, including the inspection of work completed by contractors,

  • Manage contractor disputes seeking to resolve disputes or referring to the next level Supervisor

  • Ensure contractors use plant that is registered for National Heavy Vehicle Compliance

  • Complete processing of invoices including reviewing and authorising release of funds

  • Answer telephone enquiries from customers

  • Inspect and investigate complaints from customer

  • Liaise with customers, public utilities, contractors, traffic controllers and staff from Council’s other departments/sections

  • Assist in organising annual events and festivals

  • Carry out workplace inspections

  • Carry out site inductions with contractors when required

  • Conduct tool box talks with contractors and work crews

  • Assist in the review and update of works instructions

  • Review and update safety data sheets and safety registers for plant, lifting equipment, fire services, hazardous materials and chemical storage on a regular basis

  • Organise and issue work/entry permits as required

  • Process, investigate and conclude incident reports and corrective actions

  • Carry out assessment and inspections of traffic control plans and implementation

  • Volunteer management duties if applicable

  • Other duties as directed consistent with the operations of Council.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Trade qualification or Certificate IV in a related field

  • Extensive experience in the application of skills in all aspects of the job

  • Solid knowledge of application of skills in complex areas of the job

  • Demonstrated communication skills when responding to internal and external customers

  • Current class ‘C’ driver's licence.
