This role is within Victoria’s underground gold mining sector, where operations focus on safe, efficient, and sustainable gold extraction. These sites utilise modern safety protocols, risk management strategies, and advanced mining techniques to ensure responsible resource development while maintaining high operational standards.

Your new role

  • Lead and maintain a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Oversee occupational health assessments, maintain records, and implement targeted risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage injury prevention and return-to-work programs, ensuring seamless reintegration for affected employees.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate major workplace hazards using the ICAM methodology to minimise risk.
  • Promote employee health and well-being initiatives that encourage resilience and safety-conscious practices.
  • Facilitate audits, inspections, and safety reviews, ensuring operational integrity and regulatory adherence.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to build a strong safety culture and enhance workforce awareness.

What you'll need to succeed

Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Advanced Diploma in WHS (or higher)
  • ICAM Lead Investigator Certification
  • Lead Auditor qualifications
  • Training in Specimen Collection for Drug & Alcohol Testing
Industry Expertise:
  • Extensive experience in underground mining operations
  • Proven ability to implement and enhance safety protocols
  • Strong track record in workplace injury management and rehabilitation
  • In-depth understanding of hazard identification and risk mitigation
Key Skills & Attributes:
  • Leadership skills to guide and influence teams in fostering a culture of safety
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively
