Your new role

As a Senior Legal Officer (EL1), you will lead and manage complex legal matters, with a strong focus on litigation and regulatory enforcement. You will be responsible for preparing and managing anti-doping cases, advising on statutory functions, and ensuring compliance with national and international legal frameworks. This role also involves mentoring junior lawyers and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including international regulatory bodies.

  • Manage and conduct litigation, particularly in relation to anti-doping rule violations and regulatory enforcement
  • Prepare legal submissions and recommendations for executive decision-making
  • Provide high-quality legal advice on administrative law, employment law, and integrity matters
  • Draft and review legal documents, contracts, and cooperation agreements
  • Liaise with external legal counsel, tribunals, and international regulatory bodies
  • Supervise junior legal staff and contribute to legal training across the agency
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Sport Integrity Australia Act 2020 and associated regulations

What you'll need to succeed

  • A law degree and admission as a legal practitioner in an Australian jurisdiction
  • Demonstrated experience in litigation, particularly within a government or regulatory context
  • Strong understanding of administrative and regulatory law, including anti-doping frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters under pressure and within tight timeframes
  • Experience mentoring junior legal professionals and working collaboratively across teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at senior levels
