As a leading voice in law reform and advocacy, LIV is committed to upholding the highest standards of legal practice, ethics, and education. We champion the rule of law and work to ensure access to justice for all Victorians.

Your new role

As a Lawyer / Policy Officer, you will play a critical role in the Legal Policy team, developing legal policy, driving reform initiatives, and providing advocacy for the profession. Your work will directly support LIV’s efforts to influence legislation, inform stakeholders, and foster collaboration across legal committees and government bodies.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Drafting legal policy submissions, reform proposals, and briefing materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships with committees, departments, and external partners.
  • Leading legal analysis and advocacy in response to emerging legislative issues.
  • Supporting and advising on CPD events and legal education initiatives.
  • Coaching and supervising junior staff while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

What you'll need to succeed

You are a legally qualified professional with a strong grasp of property law and an interest in shaping public policy.

To thrive in this role, you will need:
  • A current (or eligible) Victorian practising certificate.
  • At least two years’ post-admission experience in property law.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated policy writing and advocacy experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.

What you'll get in return

At LIV, we believe in meaningful work and real impact. You’ll join a values-driven team dedicated to integrity, collaboration, and excellence — and be empowered to influence the future of Victorian law.

Here’s what you can look forward to:
  • A dynamic, respected platform for policy and law reform work.
  • Exposure to senior leaders, committees, and cross-sector collaborations.
  • A supportive and inclusive work culture that values your growth.
  • Flexible work arrangements and professional development opportunities.
  • The chance to make your mark at the forefront of legal advocacy in Victoria.
