Accountant

Temporary Accountant role with a State Government Department based in central Perth

Our State Government client, based in central Perth, are looking to recruit an experienced, fully qualified Accountant to join their Finance team on a temporary basis. This role requires an immediate start and will be 37.5 hours per week.

Your new role

  • Fixed Asset Management:
    • Oversee the capitalisation of assets, ensuring accurate recording and classification.
    • Perform regular reconciliation of fixed asset accounts.
    • Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
    • Conduct periodic reviews and audits of fixed assets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Support the preparation of year-end financial statements and reports.
    • Assist with the year-end audit process, including liaising with auditors and providing necessary documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • General Accounting Duties:
    • Manage all accounting transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
    • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
    • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial data is accurate.
    • Prepare budget forecasts and financial reports.
    • Analyse financial data and provide insights to management.
    • Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
    • Maintain and update financial policies and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience in Fixed Asset Management and year-end financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
