Your New Role
As a Project Manager - Sustainable Fishing, you will play a key role in delivering strategic policies and initiatives that support sustainable fishing and species protection. You will shape policy, manage key projects, provide high-level advice, and collaborate with government, industry, and conservation stakeholders to protect the Great Barrier Reef’s long-term future.
Your responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering sustainable fishing policies and programs.
- Providing strategic advice to senior leadership.
- Managing key projects related to fisheries and conservation.
- Engaging with stakeholders to drive solutions and achieve conservation outcomes.
- Contributing to broader strategic initiatives, including Reef 2050 and Sustainable Fisheries.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Experience in natural resource management, government policy, or a related field.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to navigate a dynamic regulatory landscape.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with proven stakeholder engagement experience.
- Knowledge of fisheries, marine conservation, and sustainability frameworks.
- A proactive and adaptive mindset, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide risk-based strategic advice.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant experience in a marine or environmental field.
- Policy development, regulatory processes, and project management expertise.
- Familiarity with Great Barrier Reef management and Australian fisheries policy.
- Ability to travel for work commitments.
