EL1 Contract Manager – Digital Transformation

A dynamic federal government agency is seeking an experienced EL1 Contract Manager to support its Digital Transformation Branch. As the agency embarks on an exciting period of growth, this role plays a key part in managing multi-million-dollar vendor contracts and overseeing procurement operations within a high-paced, agile environment.

About the Role
You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team reporting to an EL2 leader, ensuring high-value contracts are effectively governed and optimised to meet business needs. With flexible hybrid working arrangements in place, the successful candidate can negotiate WFH days while contributing to strategic procurement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day contract administration, including vendor performance monitoring, milestone tracking, invoicing, and compliance reporting.
  • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external vendor representatives, ensuring seamless engagement.
  • Drive procurement planning and provide strategic commercial advice to program leadership.
  • Oversee contract variations, extensions, and approvals in line with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs).
  • Maintain contract records, governance documentation, and audit trails to ensure integrity and compliance.

About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
  • Experience in contract or procurement management within a Commonwealth or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CPRs, financial management principles, and vendor governance frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage performance and mitigate risk.
  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to commercial problem-solving.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with ICT contracts, agile delivery environments, or vendor-driven digital transformation programs.
