Communications Officer

Multiple positions available to work within a large State Gov dept, 3 months with potential for extension

Is a large QLD Government organisation based in Brisbane CBD.

Your new role

You will be working as a Communications Officer within a large QLD Government department in either their projects or media streams of communications.

Key responsibilities:
  • Supporting the department’s strategic direction through the development and delivery of day to day operations of their communications and media functions, and actively contributing to the comms business unit’s business planning strategies
  • Developing, writing and implementing and evaluating comms campaigns and projects ensuring readability, accuracy and compliance with QLD Gov’s guidelines and the department’s comms protocols, ensuring they are delivered on time and in budget.
  • Actively participating and member of a multidisciplinary team providing a wide range if communication and media services including research, writing, editing, and reviewing publications, media releases, speeches, interviews, presentation, events and news articles
  • Providing high level communication advice to senior management, senior staff and business areas,
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including graphic designers and external suppliers to help meet their strategic objectives

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated previous experience in Communication Officer positions, ideally within the public sector
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong media & social media skills
  • Experience working across the delivery of external campaigns
  • Extensive experience with internal communications & media could be advantageous.
  • A background in journalism could be advantageous.
