Your new role
The installation, commissioning, and service team is expanding, and they're in search of a Commissioning Manager to oversee all aspects of commissioning for their BESS system. This role involves scoping, planning, and executing commissioning activities, including supervising both internal and external resources assigned to the project. Timely and accurate execution of commissioning tasks is crucial, making this position vital to the project's success. Safety is a top priority, and the Commissioning Manager will lead by example, acting as a site role model and trainer for all personnel assigned to the project.
The main responsibilities are:
- Prioritise and enforce safe work practices and policies as described in the Energy Control Program, Installation and Maintenance manuals.
- Ensure safe work practices on the job site in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- You will be the company’s onsite, customer-focused ambassador; adhere to the customer’s safety program and onsite safety protocols; serve as a Company resource for answering technical questions pertaining to Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation manual, commissioning, and field operations.
- Complete and submit all required documentation and reporting, such as Daily Reports, Checklists, Field Reports, Commissioning Reports, scheduled service reports, Quality Issue reports, etc.
- Act as training lead for installers, contractors, and ASP Approved Service Provider teams.
- Support the development and execution of commissioning plans, including resourcing, logistics, and scheduling as required.
- Supervise onsite BESS commissioning and acceptance testing with support from remote Commissioning engineering (CET) and remote operation centre (ROC)
- Supervise battery examinations/inspections, identify and resolve issues and errors, and perform final commissioning.
- Provide remote commissioning support and fault isolation troubleshooting support when required.
- Work directly with HVAC, Fire Suppression System (FSS), Power Conversion System (PCS) and other OEM equipment certified technicians.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven track of relevant work & leadership experience
- Experience with creating and maintaining project schedules related to electrical construction.
- Ability to read electrical and/or mechanical drawings and specifications and understand terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders
- Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint), Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration and project management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with customers, members of a project team, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, time management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated experience in customer-focused problem-solving.
