APS6 Finance Officer

Working within a medium-sized Federal Government Department, working to future proof the way Australia protects the farming industry.

Your new role

Within your new role, you will be responsible for supporting the property and security division and enhancing the functions within. Your role will require you to support the Finance Manager with limited direction and may include however, not be limited to:

• Aid the preparation of half-year budgets.
• Advice on appropriate spending of funding and budget allocations within the branch.
• Financial management of assets including capitalisation and disposals.
• Provide financial analysis on reporting to budget owners on branch activities.
• Month end reporting, posting journals, accruals, reconciliations and preparing monthly dashboard reporting for Senior executives.
• Updating forecasts and providing timely financial advice to project managers.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be a self-starter who is eager to join an established team that has worked within TechOne FMIS or similar system. You will have the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to stringent deadlines.

The preferred candidate will have relevant finance qualifications being a Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent and CA or CPA qualified or working toward.

What you'll get in return

You will be given the opportunity to join the agency on an initial 12-month non-ongoing contract or S26 transfer if you are an APS employee. The role has a view to permanency and the client is seeking someone who is eager for a longer-term role.
