Working in a leading defence manufacturing company which supports various areas of defence. This position is based in North Regional Victoria and is open to contract or permanent opportunities.

Your new role

This role is responsible for delivering an optimal customer service rate by enhancing the reliability of every step in the product/supplier procurement process in warehouses, in order to contribute to the company’s financial performance. You will be directly contributing to the ability to meet the service levels expected by internal and external customers with the right supplier and at the right price to ensure the timely delivery of goods or services to the business.


The primary purpose of this role is the procurement of Goods and Services for the facilities incorporating Inventory Replenishment, Raw Materials and Direct Purchase Orders. This requires selecting and managing suppliers through SRM, Supplier Relationship Management and negotiating and expediting the required goods and services. The position requires a persistent focus to evaluating suppliers, reduce cost and provide service while ensuring quality and security of supply.

  • Approve and Refer approval of Purchase Orders.

  • The selection of suppliers with attention to price, delivery, past performance, adherence to specification, quality acceptance, national agreements and preferred suppliers.

  • Place orders, expedite orders and report to users.

  • Effective use of the BPCS system, including Supplier Relationship Management, Vendor Report Cards, Vendor Master Files and Inventory Maintenance Control

  • Commercial supplier assessment process for suppliers if required.

  • Purchase order variation processing and reconciliation.

  • Coordination of non-conformance reports and actions for purchased items as required.

  • Assist in the collection of data for team KPI measurement

  • Working in Export control - ITAR


What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree Qualified in relevant
  • Strong relationships will be required to be developed with all stakeholders.
  • Highly developed strategic and business analysis and writing skills
  • The confidence and maturity of judgement to represent the company at high levels with customer organisations both nationally and internationally
  • Previous experience working in a Purchasing role
  • Project management experience - desirable
  • NV1 clearance or ability to obtain (must hold Australian citizenship)
